MAC Offers Free Tutoring

The Melody Arons Center for Applied Preschool Research and Education (MAC) announces formation of MAC Family Night for the 2008-2009 school year. Family Night provides free tutoring services for students ages 6-18 each Tuesday evening from 6:30- 9:30 P.M. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Volunteer tutors are sought from Teaneck and surrounding communities.

Family Night is offered as part of MAC’s effort to assist families during these difficult economic times. The process for participation in this program requires an interview with both child and parent, in addition to agreement as to the nature of the tutoring provided. Sessions are scheduled for 60-minute intervals and children are required to bring their own materials. Space is limited so that services will be on a first come, first served basis.

Volunteer tutors in the content areas are sought. Teaching experience is preferred but not a requirement. The initial tutoring team will be in place by October 1, 2008, with instruction to begin on October 7, 2008. Student applications and interviews will occur September 22-26, 2008.
