MAC Announces Formation of Parent Co-op

MAC, the Melody Arons Center, announces the formation of a parent co-operative for the day-care component of its programs. Parents participating in the co-operative would be able to barter the time given to MAC in exchange for services provided to their child. If, however the parent is able to pay for all or part of the day-care program, barter cannot be used to replace payment. This restructuring is intended to address the severe shortage of affordable quality day-care and early intervention programs for preschool children with disabilities. Parents are expectd to work at assigned taks at the Center but will not work in a direct instructional capacity. Teaching will continue to be provided only by certified special education teachers. All parents are welcome to apply without regard to educational background. The only initial requirement is a current physical examination to demonstrate good health and lack of communicable disease.
