The Melody Arons Center is pleased to announce the development of a therapeutic day care component to the center-based services now provided to families with disabled infants and toddlers, 0-5. The therapeutic day care is tentatively scheduled to open in September 2009. Construction is under way to add this additional facility and entrance to the existing building. MAC thanks Richard Bennett, architect, for the extraordinary care he provided in designing the new building and therapeutic facilities. In addition to the day care, classes will be provided to parents in nutrition and cost effective food preparation and parenting skills. A continuing theme will be the joy of sharing experiences in music, art, dance, performance, and their shared use to unite families of diverse backgrounds in a community of mutual support. In addition, parent training classes will be offered on site in child development, special education law and practice, and IEP and IFSP development. Finally, a formal space will be available for the first time for researchers and neuroscientists to implement approved investigations of various types. For more information, check this website for announcements during the months of July and August.
