MAC’S 7TH Annual Santa Show

On December 15, 2011, MAC presented its 7th annual Santa show, An Evening with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Friends, in the Teaneck Public Library Auditorium at 7 P.M. It was an exciting and happy show with all participants doing their best job ever. The auditorium was decorated for the holiday with Santa decorations in every nook and cranny of the auditorium. Gabe Moya and his mother presided over the greeting table and handed out programs. Evan Schlatter was the master of ceremonies, welcoming the audience and explaining the format. This year, in addition to the music, every performer presented a Santa joke! Santa jokes became one of the highlights of the evening. For the first time, the show opened with a processional, Calum Hayes leading the parade of performers up the long aisle while drumming the rhythm, with Paulina Ifaimova singing the children’s names to the tune of Pat-A-Pan, accompanied by Vincent Rogers on tuba.

Ray and Marilyn Arons sang their traditional Mr. and Mrs. Claus song, followed by the evening’s wonderful musicians. In addition to the songs, the audience read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” together. Each holiday song sung by the audience had a volunteer drummer to accompany them. A floor piano was provided for children in the audience to play, leading a group sing of Jingle Bells. All did a fine job and received a large round of applause. See the program at this link.

Performers included Julia and Matthew Traiger, Alejandra Callejas, Alison Kumor, Benjamin Moya, Shaila Bhalla, Chelsea Jones, Calum Hayes, Kevin Bencosme and Paulina Ifraimova. The surprise guest of the evening was Jonathan Arons, the trombone-dancer, and a MAC trustee. Mr. Arons played his trombone, danced with the audience, and led a rousing version of This Little Light of Mine to complete the show. The program ended with all participants coming on the stage and singing We Wish You A Merry Christmas. MAC thanks all of the parents and the performers for their participation in coming to rehearsals and learning their jokes- often against their better judgment! It was an evening that made all present proud of the abilities of each and every participant.
